Call for Professors 2019 - Santoto Summer School

SS Call for Professors

We are looking for professors to come to Bogotá and teach two-week courses in English for the Santoto Summer School 2019.

We will pay airfares, accommodation, visa fees plus a stipend for you to come and teach a course in humanities, basic sciences or entrepreneurship.

The Santoto Summer School 2019 seeks to build international communities of learning between the Santo Tomás University and its overseas partner institutions, while offering our students the opportunity to develop their knowledge in a stimulating, interdisciplinary and multicultural environment. This year the theme of our Summer School is based on the Sustainable Development Goals. The SDG´s are of crucial importance in the development of the world and Colombia, and our aim is to equip future Santo Tomás graduates with the abilities and knowledge required to contribute to the fulfillment of these goals.

The Summer School 2019 will have a day schedule and an evening schedule in order to include both our undergraduate and postgraduate students. The day schedule will run from 8th July to 19th July, consisting of 11 teaching days from 7am to 1pm. The evening schedule will run from 4th July to 19th July, consisting of 14 teaching days from 6pm-10pm Monday to Friday and 8am-4pm Saturday. Each course will have a maximum of 35 students and all students participating in the Summer School will have a minimum level of B1 in English (in accordance with the European Framework).

For successful applicants, we are offering the following benefits:

  • • Airfares to and from your city of residence and Bogotá
  • • Accommodation for two weeks
  • • A stipend of 1000 USD
  • • Visa
  • • A programme of cultural activities outside of classes.

In order to participate in the Summer School as a professor we require a minimum level C1 of English (in accordance with the European Framework). We will need you to provide a certificate if you are not a native speaker. Additionally, we ask for a Masters or PhD qualification in a relevant subject area as well as availability to travel to Bogotá for the dates of the Summer School.

As part of the application, we ask you to provide a syllabus proposal. The syllabus outlines, including the course objectives and how to complete the proposal, can be found below. There is a section provided on the application form to upload your completed syllabus proposal.

  2. As part of the form you must upload your academic CV and completed syllabus proposal
  3. The deadline for applications is Friday 26th April
  4. Successful applicants will be announced on Friday 17th May
  5. Upon acceptance of your application you will be contacted to arrange practicalities
